Movie Night

May 20, 2009

Last week I let the kids pick which movie we would rent from the DVD rental box to watch as a family. The kids chose Hotel for Dogs. I am pretty open to watching whatever they want, even though they are often snoozers for daddy. I made popcorn and we all got in our lounging positions for the movie. It was a pretty good movie and the kids really enjoyed seeing the dogs doing funny things. The dogs using the toilets and the giant fire hydarant were the biggest selling points for my little Buddy. Of course I started to cry when the big sister found out that she and her brother were going to be seperated in foster care and they couldn’t live together anymore. Then five minutes later when they actually were seperated our darling princess started weeping uncontrolably followed shortly by the little toad. They both wanted to stop watching the movie because it was really upsetting them. They have become really close recently, playing different games together and make believe. I think they related to the older sister and younger brother in the movie and seeing them torn apart was too much. Of course daddy thought it was funny/cute and couldn’t control his laughter and smiling about the situation which made both of the kids worse. After a few minutes we were able to start the movie again and the kids ended up really liking it, although that night the lil toad said he didn’t want to see it again. He also went in and asked his sissy if he could sleep with her that night, to which she promptly said yes and gave him a big hug and kiss. It was so heart warming to see that they care so much about each other.

They are having a contest to win a copy at 5 Minutes for Giveaways, and if we don’t win I think I will have to pick up a copy as a keepsake for the kids. They have both asked to see it again since our movie night.
